Soap Care Tips – Keep Your Bar Beautiful

Cold-pressed soaps are crafted with natural oils and butters, which makes them deeply moisturizing and gentle on the skin. However, because they contain fresh, unprocessed ingredients, they are more sensitive to moisture and environmental conditions than many commercial soaps.

Unlike commercial soaps, which often rely on synthetic stabilisers and preservatives, our soaps are free from harsh chemicals. In fact, many store-bought soaps are technically detergents, designed for long shelf life rather than skin health!

At Roxbury Homestead, we choose to make our soaps with fresh, natural ingredients—free from harsh chemicals. This commitment means our soaps may not last as long on the shelf as commercial alternatives, and thoughtful storage is essential to maintain their quality.

To keep your bar at its best:

  • Keep it dry between uses. Use a well-draining soap dish to prevent sogginess and extend the life of your bar.
  • Avoid standing water. Don’t leave your soap in the shower stream or on a wet surface.
  • Store extras in a cool, dry place. A linen drawer or cupboard works perfectly. Avoid airtight containers, which can trap moisture.
  • Use within 6–12 months. Natural ingredients may fade in scent or texture over time, so enjoy your soap while it’s fresh.

Each bar is handcrafted with care—treat it like the little luxury it is.
